Fred misses the start of Man Utd’s pre-season tour owing to a ‘personal issue,’ as the players arrive in the United States without the midfielder

FRED will miss the start of Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States due to a personal matter.

The 30-year-old came in at halftime in United’s 1-0 triumph over Lyon at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and played 45 minutes.

While Erik ten Hag’s squad has left for the United States, a club statement indicated Fred will remain in the country for the time being.

United said: “One player who hasn’t made the flight is Fred.

“The Brazilian has remained in the UK to deal with a personal issue, but he is expected to join up with the rest of the squad shortly.”

Fred, who has been linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer, is not the only star who has been ruled out due to injury, with Tyrell Malacia and Rhys Bennett also missing out.

Stars like as Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Marcus Rashford, who has signed a new contract until 2028, have all been nominated to the US squad.

The Red Devils stars were all smiles as they boarded their flight to America, where they will begin their tour against Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday.

The Gunners have already crossed the Atlantic and produced a stunning performance, winning 5-0 over MLS All-Stars.

Following their arrival, a number of United players, including Antony, Christian Eriksen, and Fernandes – who is anticipated to be made captain after Harry Maguire was stripped of the armband – were spotted posing with supporters.

Andre Onana, the Cameroon goalkeeper, is likely to join United’s team soon after passing his Old Trafford medical.

Personal agreements have been finalised prior to his £47 million move from Inter Milan.

Mason Mount, a new signing, has also travelled, although shock signing Jonny Evans has not.

Instead, Evans has traveled to San Diego in preparation for United’s game against Wrexham, where Ten Hag is likely to play an academy side.

Following the game against Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny’s Wrexham, they will travel to Houston and Las Vegas to face Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

On August 5 and 6, United will conclude pre-season with back-to-back games against Lens and Athletic Bilbao.
