Newcastle United have been linked with a summer move for Neymar, but Manchester United’s Casemiro is reportedly urging him to stay at Old Trafford.
The Magpies qualified for the Champions League with a game to spare last night, while Manchester United can do the same when they face Chelsea this week.
Both clubs are expected to be active in the summer transfer window and have been linked with a number of high-profile players. However, Neymar may be the biggest of them all. L’Equipe has now released the most recent information.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, “Newcastle United’s majority shareholders PIF have a real interest in bringing Neymar to the Premier League.”
The Brazilian superstar is one of the best in the world, but he is likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain before the start of the next season.
The French champions, according to Bailey, are looking for a fee of £75 million to let Neymar go, which is a lot of money but nothing Newcastle’s new owners can’t afford.
However, L’Equipe now claims that Manchester United are also in the race to sign Neymar, with Erik Ten Hag’s side being the’most advanced’ in their interest at the moment.
It has also been claimed that Casemiro is attempting to persuade the Brazilian to join him at Old Trafford.
If Neymar does leave PSG for the Premier League, it will be one of the most significant transfers of the summer.
The Brazilian is an absolute game changer. He has won it all at club level, and on his day, he is almost unplayable for even the world’s best defenders.
However, we don’t see Newcastle or Manchester United breaking the bank to sign Neymar, who is already 31 and earns exorbitant wages.
It will be interesting to see what happens this summer with PSG and Neymar.
